Day 253: Kitchen memories
It’s Writing Day!
Writing Prompt: Share a favorite family recipe and your memories to go with it.
If you’re thinking about what to cook for Thanksgiving next week, you may be thinking about old family-favorite dishes. If you won’t be gathering in person this year, is there something you can make to keep with tradition? Maybe it’s that one side dish unique to your dinner table, or a favorite relative’s specialty you eagerly awaited every year. Or maybe Thanksgiving always makes you think about the time someone burned the turkey and you ended up getting takeout, or the time the dog got into the pumpkin pie.
Why not share that recipe (well, maybe not the one for burnt turkey!), and your story alongside it? Few people want to read a random food blogger writing a thousand words before they get to the list of ingredients, but it’s different when it’s about people you know and love. And those stories are something your family can treasure in the future.
