Day 183: What's in a name?
It’s Writing Day!
Writing Prompt: What does your name suggest you do?
Aptronyms are names that are well-suited to their owners, think the very fast Usain Bolt. It’s one example of nominative determinism, a theory that people are drawn to activities and work that suits their name.
Of course, many people have surnames that are professions. It’s fun to imagine that happening with modern occupations: Joe Regionalmanagerson, Karen Servicerepresentative, Tom Accountant.
And some people just have really great names. Name of the Year is an annual bracket of excellently-named actual people. This year’s winner was Mathdaniel Squirrel.
What’s in your name? Has it had an impact on your life?
