Writing Prompt: Write a story from the perspective of something non-human.

Earlier today I read an obituary for an almost 200-year-old tree. It got me thinking about how much had happened in that one tree’s lifetime, and how it would be a good background for a multi-generational tale. “If these walls could talk” — well, what if they could? (PS don’t write The Giving Tree. It’s been done.)
