Day 88: Isolation Vacation
It’s Food and Drink Day!
Today’s Activity: Cook something you’ve eaten on vacation.
Last summer I got angry at a loaf of bread.
We were in Paris, and on a recommendation stopped at Du Pain et des Idées to try their mouna, an orange flower brioche crusted in big chunks of sugar.
It’s one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I took one bite and instantly became upset this bread only exists very far away from my house.
I’ve since attempted an approximation at home, and while I didn’t manage to get the flavor right I discovered it is actually possible to make a convincing brioche in a bread machine. Handy if you’re low on flour but have plenty of butter.
